About Bluetooth Networking

Right now I have a setup running sound out to my deck. What I do is connect to my "media box" running XPPro using remote desktop select my playlist and play. Since I have it set up to leave the sound at the remote computer it works perfectly. Only complaint is having to control it from the laptop. Now I have a Palm TungstenT with built in Bluetooth and was thinking that I could pick up a Bluetooth card for the "media box" and I already have the Remote Desktop for the palm. My question, is a bluetooth network the same as any other 812.11 network. I can run the same apps and such? All i need to do is connect to be able to change playlist. But I am not to familiar with Bluetooth Networks.
