<< The second mistake we made this time around was that instead of using a Rackmount case to enclose the server, we used a Supermicro SC750-A tower, which although was perfect for cooling, it ended up leaving our hosts a little more than displeased because of the sheer size of the case. I am curious how this is setup. It sounds like you have the servers setup at the ISP directly hooked up to an internet backbone? Do they charge you for the space and bandwidth as well? What kind of connection is it? T1? multiple T1? Are the servers in the lab or offsite?

PS: The new smileys SUCK! I hate them! Sorry I couldn't resist. hehe -) (boycott smilies)

From my experience, multiple T1's is FAR from enough. I would guess it's at least an OC-3 connection.

well, if my guess is right that he still works with gisystech.com check out thier website for what kind of connection they have.

Its called co-location. Its your computer, you control it, they just provide a space, and the bandwith.

Depends on the ISP.

They are probably co-locating. Which means they are probably hooked right into the router and they have access to all the bandwith they can grab from the ISP.

I have a friend who co-locates at a ISP that has 3 OC-3s and a few T3s.
