About 30" LCD Monitors

I currently have a pa241w NEC monitor...it is great! I want a bigger monitor I think, but I am not sure whether I should get one in the future or should get one now. I see NEC's pa301w, which is very expensive but very nice at the same time. What I would like to know is is anyone coming out with a better 30" monitor (or even 27") that has more features and similar picture quality. I kinda would like 3d capable and LED and other features. HP still has an older 30" Dreamcolor, yet they might come out with a new one. Does anyone have info on future 30" monitors that will improve the field of displays that much? Replies are very welcome! Thanks.

NEC makes very high quality screens, they are sort of the stepping stone between the average 30" panels, which are already amazing monitors; from companies like HP, Dell and Samsung - and the top-tier monitors made by Eizo.

Unless you want to spend $5000+ on the monitor, I dont think you can go wrong with the NEC, at all

This is more or less accurate.

I own a PA271W, the 27" version @ 2560x1440. The jump in price between the 27" and 30" models seems quite high. If you like a finer PPI and don't mind losing 160 lines of screen space, you should consider the PA271W.

The absolute king monitor at the 27" spec is allegedly the Eizo ColorEdge CG275W. But that monitor is so expensive that it's only worth it if your career is tied to color-critical work.

Only way to get that in a huge screen is to get a 32" HDTV.

AFAIK for the time being you can't get 3D capable (120Hz) with that many pixels (2560x1600).

LED backlighting... maybe in a future product.

2560x1600 @ 120 hz would get me off my crt. A few more years maybe. Although how much of a market is there for 2560x1600 3d capable monitors? I feel like we are really approaching a fringe market that my not be worth the investment for the manufacturer.

 If you're not interested in the 2560 resolutions and just want a big screen with great IQ you can't beat 32 inches at 1080p for under $400.

Like this one (or the 37" version for $450 at buydig):

The word on the street is that 30" panel production is being reduced in favor of 27" panels. So if you want a 30" LCD, you may want to grab one sooner than later.
