About 20% off NewEgg deal, and credit cards

Hm, I'm pretty sure I got in on the deal. I ordered a Samsung 226BW 22" LCD for $309.99.

309.99 -20% ($50 limit) = 259.99.
259.99 -$40MIR = 219.99.
free shipping.

When I placed the order, there was an image on the paypal checkout that said I would recieve 20% off up to $50. (have read else where that it will be credited at a later date so I'm not too worried about the fact that the discount wasn't reflected in the amount PayPal deducted from my Savings account). My order was placed at approx 3:00PM EST. No where in any email from either Paypal or NewEgg mentions the 20% off.

The fun thing was, I ordered an ACER 22" on Saturday for 199.99 + $15 shipping. I accidentally selected my debit card as the payment option (debit account only had $190 or so in it) but when I typed in the 3 digit security code, I typed in the code for the card I had originally intended to use (my credit card). The 2 codes are completely different but the order still went through and thus I overdrew my account and was charged $38. So I cancelled the order Monday when I noticed my debit balence was -$22.17 (when I tried to withdrawl some money at an ATM).

So I called NewEgg yesterday to cancel the order so I could reorder it using my credit card and bring up a dispute with my Bank for allowing the charge to go through even with the wrong security code (if I can place an order with the wrong code, then what the hell is the point of it?). However, when I tried to reorder the LCD, the price had been raised to its non sale price. Needless to say I was pissed.

So after swinging by these forums to check out any Cyber Monday deals, I saw the NewEgg et. al. PayPal deal. This really brightened my day since I would be able to buy a 20% more expensive monitor for the same price. As I started above, I got a nice Samsung 226BW for $220 with free shipping. So I only pay $5 more for a monitor that usually costs ~$80 more. Not a bad deal.

Now after coming back to the hot deals section today, I see that NewEgg/PayPal pulled the promotion early. And considering that no where in any email I have says that I got in on the deal, I'm not so sure if I did. (even though during the paypal checkout the promotion was displayed.)

Anyway, whom should I bring up the dispute about the incorrect security code with? Is that NewEgg's fault or my bank's? The reason I canceled the order was because the overdraft fee hadn't been charged yet; the transaction from NewEgg that pushed me over the edge was listed as pending until this afternoon. I was hoping that my card would be credited the canceled order before the initial charge was actually finalized. No dice, my account balence is now at -$56.17.

Locked because this deal is dead. If you happened to get in on it, this would belong in Brag and Moan. We don't have the B&M forum anymore so I did the next best thing.

I just used NewEgg's live chat feature and "Claire" told me that the cut off time for the deal was before 12PM PST yesterday which is before I placed my order. She told me to take up any disputes with paypal. At this point, I told her I wanted to cancel my order but it had already been shipped so I was told to refuse the package at the door and my money would be refunded.

So I called PayPal....

I just got off the phone with Paypal and they stated that the deal ended at 4:26PM PST and that my order made the cut off time. The rep said my account would be credited the $50 on January 8th (I think). I asked for an email stating this in writing (mainly so I wouldn't forget about it by the time I'm supposed to have recieved the discount). Still waiting for the email.

This raises my hopes; I've been wanting a bigger monitor for a while. Hope this is helpful to anyone who is confused about the cutoff time.
