Republicans today codified in their partys platform their position for a human life amendment.

We support a human life amendment to the Constitution, and we endorse legislation to make clear that the 14th Amendment's protections apply to unborn children

An amendment that would outlaw all abortions, no exceptions. If a woman is raped and becomes pregnant she would be forced to carry to term.

Mitt Romney has stated that his administration would allow rape victems who become pregant to get an abortion.

So what will happen when these two positions come to a head? Who will win?

It was revealed today.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.co...ommittee-approves-tough-anti-abortion-stance/

Republican party is officially taking a stance that no abortion is acceptable except to save a woman's life. Can't believe this country (this party, to be correct) is dealing with this in 2012 when the rest of the world has resolved in 60's.

How any sane lawyer could apply the 14th amendment to fetuses is beyond my comprehension.

Let them double down on a losing hand....

And yes, this is clearly contradictory to what Romney has said about Akins. Akins view is (or will be) very much the position of the Republican Party after its convention next week.

So the Republican nominee has a different view on the 14th amendment than the rest of the party? Is that it?

Here is a human baby at 12 weeks. Legal to be aborted. You are one cold, soulless person if you can look at this picture and still have no problem killing the kid.

If this "offends" you, well, that's the whole point. Wake up and stop believing some nonsense that these are not people that are being killed.

So tell Romney to accept the GOP's stance. Don't be afraid. And make sure to inform such an important position of American electorates.

It offends me because that is a well known fake photo. Women who have had miscarriages at 13+ weeks have outright stated that the fetus did not look anything like that.

You're a cold bastard you would force your daughter or wife carry a rapists baby in her body for the good part of a year and to have her explain or cringe to everyone who congrats her on her pregnancy.

If your wife is raped, you're going to happily sit there and help her through the pregnancy? Drive her to the Dr appts for checkups? Rub her feet when they swell? Put your hand on her belly and feel the kicking of the offspring of the slimeball that beat and held your wife down while he rammed his cock up inside her?

Hey, that kicking is the tiny bit of cum still left inside her. Don't you just want to cuddle it?

Explain to young kids how Mommy has another baby growing in the tummy, but its not Daddy's baby, and maybe you won't keep it? Its only kinda their brother? Happy to pay the thousands in medical bills? Happy to have her miss time at work and maybe damage her career?

Nobody "likes" abortion. The point is its none of your business what someone else is going through, and what decisions they need to make. These fundies and extremists have such an easy time telling other people how they need to lead their lives.

Republican officials said the language in the platform was "100% pro-life" but stressed thatthe document has to remain vague and avoid specific language about abortion exceptions because different states have varying abortion regulations.

But hey lets not let common sense get in the way of hating republicans.

Under their propositions (that the 14th amendment applies to fetuses), a miscarriage will be, at a minimum, a negligent/involuntary homicide.

Considering how easy of a time that everyone has in telling men how to live their lives I guess everyone is afundy and extremist.

I'm sure a raped pregnant woman would get her abortion if she chose long before 12 weeks.

BTW - In the case of spontaneous abortions why does God kill kids?

Probably punishment for their parents engaging in homosexuality or promiscuity. ^_^

Very good. You should petition that to be GOP's official platform as well.

Edit: While they're at it, they should probably crack down and purge out those who miscarried within their party, to set an example. Those are nasty, lying, whoring, and immoral RINOs.

Vast majority of abortions are not for that reason. Vast majority are because "I wanted to have sex but I don't want the results!!!" Those people need to grow up. Don't want kids? Don't have sex, particularly around specific times. "Oh that's too hard" no, that's called self control, something that most seem to have the hardest time with.

The rest, well, I would have to say the baby is STILL a person, despite the horrific origins. I honestly don't know what I'd do in a case like that and I hope never have to go through anything like that either. I'm still single so not even close to having it as a possibility and it hasn't crossed my mind as to what we would do. I refuse to say "I" there because it would NOT be something that only one of us would decide on. Both of us would have to do that together, same as pretty much everything else.

In the case of a miscarriage, that isn't a willful ending of an otherwise normal pregnancy. Doesn't fall into the same category so don't even try that.

So, you'd like to dictate to others what they should do...

Since the can of extremes have been opened you still didn't answer my spontaneous abortion question.

I don't have stats as to why woman have abortions but common sense tells me if it was just an "oh crap the unprotected sex was great but I don't want a baby" the abortion decision would be closer to 2 weeks not 12.

Rofl. You would think so, eh? Let's see:

- Did you drink coffee or alcohol?
- Did you know that you're too old and have a high chance of miscarriage?
- Did you ride a rollercoaster?
- Did you go to any place where someone might have been smoking?
- Did you not take enough vitamins?
- What other medications did you take?
- What did you eat for the last couple of weeks?
- Did you watch any horror movies?
- Did you and your husband have a fight?

And according to Nehalem258, there are a few more questions to be asked:

- Did you engage in homosexual behavior?
- Did you have sex with more than one person?

Any and all of the above questions can be probed on miscarried women and used against them in a court of law. Don't be stupid about our legal system and the conservative legal movement.
