Question Abnormal PSU Voltages/Values Readings By Multiple Benchmarking Applications. Please help.

Hello.

New to the Forum. Would you please be so kind as to assist me? I run multiple bench-marking apps. and as results show, I have very abnormal values in PSU Voltages. My PC is running fine, absolutely no issues/problems, no errors, no blue screens, no log file warnings... e.t.c. I have no option in BIOS to verify any voltages/values.

I am running Dell Inspiron 5675 Gaming PC with 850W Dell PSU. I contacted Dell Forum and it was explained to me not to be concerned with possibility the apps do not read properly with the Dell diode which reads the voltages since if true, my PC would not start or have multiple issues.

Please see the attached screenshots. I would greatly appreciate your time to examine it and possibly advise me. I do not think I will physically have the PSU tested. Interestingly, most apps show low values and just one reads very high voltages. All tests were running at idle mode as well as under stress and values did not change.

Maybe JonnyGuru can chime in and explain in better detail, but I've always understood that no benchmarking program accurately reads your power supply voltages. You really need a properly set-up test bench to get accurate numbers.

Most aftermarket boards have a "PC Health" sub-menu that will give you that info, at least on the "classic" BIOS layouts.

Wow! there's some weird +12v fluctuations there based on those apps. What does HWiNFO indicate?

Thank you VirtualLarry for your kind interest trying to help me. Unfortunately, there is just a simple BIOS and based on what I read, Dell disables advanced BIOS and there is no way to unlock it. I re-flashed the BIOS but the voltage values are the same as indicated in my first post. There is a Dell on boot hardware test in BIOS, and when I run it, it does not indicate any problems. As I mentioned earlier, PC works perfectly fine, no issues whatsoever. If I had noticed any glitch in stability or any error I would of replaced the PSU. Do you think I should still consider replacing the PSU? This is an ongoing issue, - upon purchase of this PC, Dell sold me this PC with 460W PSU, but I had tech. support come and upgraded it to Dell Delta N1WJD 80 Plus Bronze 850w PSU.

Hotrod2go, thank you for your post. Attached are the screenshots from HWiNFO as well as HWMonitor. Strangly enough, only Aida64 indicates high voltages in values, all the rest of the apps show under voltages in their readings. Thank you for your interest trying to help.

OP, are you actually having issues with this system, instability, crashing, failing to boot? Or is this purely a cosmetic issue with some of the monitor software that you've chosen to run on it? I wouldn't worry so much about it, quite frankly.

If you really want an accurate reading, grab a spare (HA! On a Dell?!?), molex/sata power connector, and use a physical DVM meter on them.
(Set to DC volts)

VirtualLarry, thank you for putting my mind to ease. I have absolutely no issues with this system, just these apps I decided to run freaked me out... Yes, you are correct, " this purely a cosmetic issue with some of the monitor software that you've chosen to run on it." All I believe that if those values by the apps were correct, then my system would indicate some errors/problem; but that has never been the issue. Thanks a lot, very kind of you.
