abnormal hd sounds

i have a maxtor diamondmax plus 45gb 7200 rpm drive and lately theres been this beeping like sound every now and then coming from the hard drive. i have an antex 830 case and it seems that the place where mount the drive to makes the sound louder due to it being a sort of tight fit around the harddrive. on maxtors page they say beeping sounds are a sign of a drive that will possibly fail, and i'm not sure if this is just caused by the thing its mounted in or if there is something wrong with the drive. i plan on calling maxtor, but i was wondering if anyone had this similar problem before. it seems like its hard to distinguish the beeping when the drive isn't mounted inside the antec removable hd mounting piece, but the noise extremely clear when its mounted.
