Able to use a HD in a CDRW USB Case?

I got a Sont Supressa USB case. I can put a CD-rom, DVD, or CDRW drive, but whn i place a hard drive in it, it doesn't reconize it. Any help would be appreciated.

Does the case have it's own power supply? Or does it draw it's power from the USB port?

it has it's own power supply.

HDs need to be reformatted for use in a usb case.
