I have 3 computers hooked through a router into a cable modem (all 3 have XPpro). Two out of the three work fine but I have one that will not connect to the internet, although it can see the other computers on the network. I can hook up my old system to the lan cable and it connects just fine, so I know it's something within the computer it's self.
Two things happened prior to this. 1) I had just patched BF 1942 to rev 1.5 and my zonealarm firewall blocked it from accessing the internet(didn't recognize the new rev.) which frooze the game and computer.I had to power off to get out of it. I don't think this is it because even if I turn off zonealarm it doesn't work.
2)Spybot had found a "shop at home" library isp.dll file in the system 32 folder but could not get rid of it even if you had it run at start-up. Tried to delete it but it kept saying it was active. However it would let me rename it so that's what I did, after that spybot checked clean. After I found that the internet wasn't working I renamed it back to the orginal isp.dll but that didn't help. Tried windows restore and windows repair off the set-up disc but no go. Just a note- this file has not been there long, I run adware 6.0 & spybot atleast every week so I know it's not a windows file.
I think I have a complete reformat coming but it doesn't hurt to ask if anyone can help.
