So one of the benefits of temporarily residing in Louisiana is that I live an hour away from Abita Springs and the Abita brewery. During strawberry fest every year, Abita produces their Strawberry Harvest Lager...and while I'll admit I'm no huge fan of beer, I pretty much love this stuff.

I was just wondering if anyone outside of Louisiana is able to find this in nearby stores as well...? I'm planning on making a trip back to Atlanta and was going to bring a bit with me, but will refrain from doing so if it'll be locally available once I get there.

I have had it, but i cant comment on finding it further away. I live in south Mississippi a little over an hour away from abita springs also. I enjoyed it, I like all of the beer from Abita. I would go ahead and take it with you, not sure if they would have it in atlanta.

That's what I figured, thanks for the info.

I think I've seen it at BevMo here in Phoenix - I'm dropping by later today, gonna look for Stone's Imperial Russian Stout, which they just released yesterday.

I have never heard of it here in NC.

Plenty of places in NC serve "Purple Haze," which is made by Abita.

Purple Haze is disgusting. The label says in fine print that it's a malt beverage, so I take that to mean its not beer?

Strawberry Harvest also has the "malt beverage" snippet on the label, although its name (Strawberry Harvest lager), and the fact that beer is technically a type of malt beverage, would imply that they both are, in fact, forms of beer.

Just a guess, though.

I'm not a big fan of Purple Haze either. I think it is a beer - beeradvocate.com has it categorized as a fruit beer. Abita does make an IPA which I really like though - Jockamo IPA.
