Abit VA6 problem.... please help

hello all,

my friend just got a new abit va6, and he is having some proplems booting into his OS. the machine will get to the point where it says "Verifying DMI Pool Data" and then it will lock. any suggestions???
 
Twice I've had a DMI lockup. Once I had a motherboard that had in the BIOS an option to flush the DMI (or something like that) and all I did was to enable it and reboot. That took care of the problem.
Another time (same motherboard) the system would boot Win95 and just lock when it attempted to find new hardware (soundcard). If I'd remove the soundcard it would boot OK. Put the soundcard back in and
it would lockup again (at new hardware detection).
I finally installed the soundcard but did not connect the audio cable to the C/D ROM drive. It installed, I connected the audio cable, and it's worked fine since.....go figure........
