Was looking for a SATA DVD drive today, as I have a stack of unreadable DVDs that I burned sometime in in the past. My current BluRay drive could not read them all. It could be the discs, but to make sure I want to see if an older DVD drive could read them. I found four of them today. All PATA drives. Boooo. Then I realized that my home server had a working DVD burner. I will swap it out this weekend and see if it can read the discs.

While I had it out and open, I thought I'd take a few pics. This is my first case from my first build from 2000. It's the Cooler Master ATC-200 all aluminum case. It was pricey back then at $200. It had 2 x 80mm intake fans and single 80mm exhaust fans at the rear and on top. It still has a small speaker at the bottom of the case. Oldschool rules!

The Abit VA-20 is my last working Socket A motherboard. I suppose I could just pop a working ATX power supply in and fire her up and have a working Windows XP box. I'm not sure of the processor, but it's probably the AMD Athlon XP 2800+, my last Socket A processor, a Barton.

You'll notice the PATA ports.

The video card is a ATi 9600XT. I believe I have a 9800XT somewhere. The Ethernet card is a US Robotics card. I used to have them in all my boxes back in the day. That was when I went to Gigabit Ethernet.
