hey all..ive had my computer/video setup for about 6 months now...and ive never notice that my video card fan doesnt spin... well i was trying to help my friend fix his computer today and we realized my video card fan is not spinning...i think its been broken sinc eday 1 because there is absolutly no dust on it at all..and when i try to spin it with my finger it doesnt spin like its "free or oiled" you kno how you spin it and it keeps going... for a bit then it stops.. but i need to keep spinning it...with my finger...well anyone know what i should do? should i rma it... or replace it myself? any suggestions to get it working?...the video card has been running fine since day 1..and ive had it overclocked to 300/600 before also... its weird because it hasnt crashed before and i play some intense games with it...

have you tried connecting the fan to a power feed from your power supply? If you still have problems pm me, i have a siluro 4200 that ive put a thermaltake cooler on, so i could send you the original if need be

and u could have been nicer.. lol kinda funny how u have time to "bust" people. why don't you post something that helps the community instead of going around wasting ur time. thanks btspope: ill see if i can hook it up directly to the mobo. rite now the power cable is connected to the video card itself.

i just looked.how can i connect the power to the p/s directly?

the siluro fan uses a two pin connector, so im assuming that you would have to use an adapter to connect to a four pin lead from your power supply. You might also want to remove your vga card from the agp slot, and connect the fan to a power header on your motherboard(when you power the system up youll get no video but an operable fan should spin). Thereby you wont risk damage to your gpu and you'll be able to isolate whether its a fan or card problem

well, why dont you just post in 1 forum and we wont have this problem?

I have the same card...I just replaced the heatsink. Any heatsink that fits a GF4 will work, though the Abit one is quiet.
I used the Zalman northbridge cooler, but had to ghetto-rig the mounting. Vantec Iceberg maybe?
(Odd: Now that it isn't winter, 300/600 is my limit)

you replaced the heatsink...do you have a fan on the heatsink?

yeah, still attached and unaltered. By the way, the fan wont move fluidly if you touch it with your hand. Mine is still in operable condition and has a moderate amount of resistance when moved manually

Simple/easy work-around: Slap a slot-blower-fan next to the vid card for under $10 and cool both the card and the case. I think they are under $10 at newegg or svc. Probably take less than 3 minutes of work, if that. Good Luck.
