Hey folks, after lurking on this message board for a few months i decieded to set up a new system myself and now im having a coupla minor issues i could use a hand on. The main problem i am having now is gettin my TH7II mobo to recognize that the processor is a northwood, when i get to my bios (which i have flashed with 38 and the new 4w bin files.. using 4w beta drivers now) it tells me that my cpu has been changed and i need to enter cmos setup (cant remember if thats word for word what it tells me =P) or i can hit the f1 key and continue. When i hit f1 i can go on into windows xp pro(which i have installed on my new HDD) and everything runs fine (system control panel tells me im runnin a p4 at 1.79 and 512 rdram, which is good i think). One more slight problem im having is that my system doctor tells me that my Vcore is runnin about 1.47 instead of 1.55 that should be the default, i know i can adjust that in my bios but was curious if there was a problem there with the motherboard or if it was just in need of a slight bios adjustment ?
What exactly do i need to do to get mobo to recognize my cpu as a 1.80a if i have flashed with the most recent 4w bin? (tried setting my cmos jumper after i power down to clear it but that just didnt work the way i wanted to either)
Anyway, i thank you all for your time and i could really use a hand here from someone with a handle on my problems (i read a post about flashing the bios on the abit th7II-raid with a northy 1.8a, it helped alot also =P)

I don't think you need to do anything now.

I'm not 100% sure now, but I think ABIT TH7II does not display northwood CPUs like 1.8A or 2.0A or etc..
I think your mainboard is recognizing your CPU correctly.

When you enter BIOS, go to softmenuIII and set your cpu as "user define" and enter 100 as your FSB.

Also, this board has tendency to undervolt your CPU. Samething happened to me.

I used to have similar problems with Abit SH-6 & PIII600EB. BIOS messages "CPU unworkable", CAS3 is recommended setting error (when using CAS2 timing)" etc.

As Cutepunk says, I remember that the BIOS with SoftMenu III (or II?) required user defined FSB and multiplier setting, as well as disabling "halt on all errors (or similar)" menu item....
I was myself considering to buy TH7II, but ended up with Intel instead, partly because my bad experience with SH6 and it's BIOS problems. There were more then these, sometimes wouldn't boot at all and required switch PS on/off or unplug main power cabel. The ABIT's website was hardly ever of any help (if I could even get there).

Hope TH7II BIOS is better; like to hear more about this board (still want it, but wanna wait a bit).
