Abit TH7II mother board in a new system. Pentium 4 1.8a Northwood.
On bootup I get a "cpu unworkable" error message. From posts I've read this is because I have the wrong BIOS for the Northwood chip.
I've seen posts where this is a BIOS issue, however I can't find any working links or instructions on how to install the BIOS.
I also need to know if I can install the BIOS without an operating system or should I go ahead and try to install my Windows XP pro even with the error.

Thanks,

You don't need the operating system to upgrade your bios, you just need of course the correct BIOS, the AWARD flash exe file, and of course those files on a bootable DOS disk. Just make a dos disk add those files and then flash the BIOS. Don't know about the Northwood, but I assume you have the correct BIOS for it.
