Abit TH7ii and the Northwood 1.8

I have a Abit TH7ii motherboard and a P4 1.8 Northwood chip. When it boots up I get a "cpu unworkable" error. It seems a BIOS upgrade is required to run the Nrothwood chip with this board. I have the new BIOS version 38 the problem is how do I update the BIOS on a computer that doesn't have a operating system?

Thanks.

Your dealing with a real rookie here I'm afraid. I downloaded the BIOS on another machine then clicked on it and expanded into 5 files plus the orginal one I clicked on. I tried to copy all of them to an empty floopy but no luck. In my Abit manual it says to format floppy for system files so I did this. Then it says to copy the "awdflsh.exe" I was able to add this to the floppy. The last thing it says is to copy the decompressed BIOS binary file, this I don't understand how to do.

FYI:

th7h38 << this is the file I downloaded. when I click on it the following 5 files appear in addition to the original.

abitfae.bat
awdflash.exe
Runme.bat
th7h_38bin.
th7h38.txt

Going by the manual it sounds like I only need 1 of the above files on the floppy to flash the BIOS, is this correct and if so which one?

Thanks.

you need:
awdflash.exe...that is the flash program
th7h_38bin.....thats the update

use a bootable disk, and type at the prompt:
awdflash th7h_38bin and follow instructions

{edit} before doing this read the txt file that came with BIOS update,th7h38.txt so you have an idea on how to do, you don't wanna screw up bios update.
