I was all geared up to buy an Abit NF7-S once my wife and I got situated after the holiday spending spree. But now I read that Abit is going to stop producing the Nforce boards. I had also been reading good things about the DFI NFII Ultra Infinity and thought maybe I should give that a go. But the Soundstorm vs Realtek is what's bugging me.
My priorities:
1. Overclocking with my Barton 2500+ and 1Ghz PC3200 Buffalo memory.
2. Playing movies from my harddrive onto my TV and DirectTV onto the computer, all with smashing surround sound. I will be buying some speakers ASAP, and have recently decided that sound quality is a big factor.
3. The future. I need this board to last probably 2 years (unless I melt it
)
Is the Soundstorm audio on the NF7-S worth choosing the Abit over the DFI NFII Ultra Infinity?
I don't have money to get an Audigy soundcard for a while, and so will be stuck with the onboard sound.
Thx.
