Still undecided on motherboard, waiting one more day, now looking at the SR7-8x (want the asus but cant wait), found a review from a French site sr7-8x and they seemed to like it and I downloaded the manual of abits ftp and it seems to have good features. Newegg will have it in on Friday so if I overnight it I will have it in plenty of time, I have between now and then to decide, either this, the p4s533, or a G board, either the p4b-533, 4g4a+ or BG7. If anyone has this board I would be curious to see what they think of it. Thanks

They dont seem to like the board to much so I am going to try and wait for the asus p4s8x, I am going back on the 27th so it is going to be very close, hopefully I can get it in with a few days to build it.

jkresh, look for the past 2-3 pages in the mainboards forum. We have a 30 some odd post long thread about the sis 648 boards that includes several posts from people who actually purchased the board. What the consensus seems to be is that the board is fine for general use, has pci/ agp locks (i think), but that this doesnt matter because it OC's pretty badly. Most have said that it is stable only up to 150-155mhz despite being adjustable up to 200. So if your not OCing then its fine and a good performer at DDR 333 and has 8x agp. Otherwise wait. I myself am in the same boat as you. I move in on the 22nd and start on the 27 so I can only wait so long. I have seen several say that the much hyped asus version will be launched in the last 10 days of august. God i hope so because i can only wait so long. I have to have my new comp and my old comp (for my dad) up and running by the start of school so if anyone knows for sure when and WHERE we can find the asus p4s8x please post. I have been thinking about giving up and just buying an abit IT-7 max like I originally planned but I want to future proof my machine and be ready for NV30. In the end if it comes down to the wire I may just by the sr-7 and take the mild OC and 8x agp it provides over the IT-7 since it should still be faster in DDR-333 and with the new agp (despite the fact that there is some disagrement over how much good this will do). So im praying for an early asus release :)

I will be overclocking but since I am getting a 1.8A I don?t think I will go much over 140mhz (maybe 150, not going to try anything extreme) but I would like to be able to run the memory at ddr400 or at least close. I am almost thinking of buying the Sr7-8x, tomorrow when newegg gets it back in (so I don?t have to worry about the asus board not showing up and having this board be out of stock again), setting up the system, and then if the asus is significantly better sending back the abit and buying the asus. Even if the overclocking isn?t much better, having firewire and serial ata, for not much of a price increase would be nice. I don?t know though, I am just worried it wont come out in time and the abit wont be in stock and I will be stuck with a g board, or a 645dx. I emailed shuttle and asus asking when the boards would be available, if they respond I will post back.
