What would you recomend, the Abit or the Asus
Abit is DDR- I would plan on putting in between 512 and 1024 megs ram (cost of 512 RIMM)
or with the Asus 512 4200 Samsung RIMM

Any Recomendations or comments welcome
Thank you

Oh yea, I plan on overclocking if you can't tell by the board selection (p4 2.26B).

I don't believe there have been any reviews yet of the Abit 648 board yet, and of the 648 reviews out now none have overclocked the CPU. If the 648 overclocks like the 645, then the top FSB is ~150MHz.

Based on early reviews I would recomend the sr7-8x. Originally I was waiting for the via x400 but when the reviews of the sis 648 came out they showed great potential. Running at DDR 400 (which the x400 is having problems with) the sis 648 performs very close to rambus equipped rigs and in a few tests even outperforms them. Look around for some of the reviews and decide for yourself. There are a few out there and ard ocp (hardocp.com) is supposed to have a review of the sr7-8x soon that should be well written. For the sis 648 you should look for a good pc 3200 ( unsupported of course) stick like corsair XMS - now $230, up from 175 :( . Factor in the cost comparison of course. But then i could be wrong ... heh we'll see how the reviews stack up as they come out.
