abit siluro gf 4200 8x : games dont wanna play...

my brother got a gf 4 4200 the other day, none of his games want to play with it
dvds play fine
graphics software (gimp, terragen) work/render fine
but games just dont want to work so far
using the latest detonators
d8 on his system... specs:

biostar m7vit pro (via kt400)
256mb pc2100
sb live oem
aforementioned video
wd 40g hd
athlon 1600+

windows sees the card fine, no resource probs or conflicts
hes tried a SoF2 demo (locks up in the opening raven video)
max payne, which either wont start, or will lock up immediately
unreal tournament: engine init error of some sort (didnt write it down)

what gives? anyone had any problems like this with a 4200? an abit card perhaps?
any ideas of what i could check, i didnt have much time with it tonight but i want to look at it again tomorrow

What vid card was in there previously? Make sure the old drivers are nuked, uninstall the current drivers and reinstall them. If you are still having problems, post back.

geforce2 gts
didnt do a full driver cleaning, just reomved the gf2 from the system devices, shut down, put in 4200

a driver cleaning is next on the list....certainly surprised me that the 4200 wouldnt play games though going from a gf2*shrug* oh well
