Abit Siluro Geforce4 Ti440 fan clipping fan power wire... help!

Hello. This is driving me NUTS... I hope you can help.

I've had an Abit Siluro Geforce4 Ti4400 for a while now. I've occasionally had problems with the GPU fan clipping the GPU fan power wire. The only way to stop this clipping noise was to pull the wire taught down. I'd try to develop aparati (aka stuff to stick in there) to get it to stop. They'd usually work pretty well and maintain my sanity. Note--when the PC is laid down (and the video card is vertical), I don't have this problem.

Anyway, I'm at college and these techniques aren't working anymore. I can't get the fan wire to stop clipping. I have to sleep in the same room as this thing, and it's driving me nuts. Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to replace all this. I doubt it's under warantee, even if it did cover something like this. I've tried to create things to weight it down and all to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks.

As in "the fan blade is hitting the power wire"?

If you value the longevity of your card, fix that now. You should be able to unplug the fan and twist/ziptie/otherwise mangle the cord into an out-of-the-way place. If need be, split a 4-pin Molex plug and run it off that.

Well, in my attempts to mangle, the connector end that plugs the fan in broke off, and I can't seem to get it back together, so now it doesn't have any fan at all. What's a Molex plug?

Weird...the wire on my ti4200 just started hitting the fan blade and making an annoying clicking sound about 10 mins ago. It apears a small piece of tape has cleared up the problem though 😀

Yeah, it gets progressively worse though as the wire loosens... heh.

I like that VGA cooler, but the fan is kinda built into a large heatsink... will it still work?

EDIT: kinda like this...
