I just installed an Abit SH-6 in my system, replacing my faithful BF-6. But it won't boot with my GeForce2 GTS card installed in AGP slot. I get the 2 tone warning sound that something is awry and it will not go into bios. Yes, I disabled the on-board vid. The card works fine in my BF-6.
I tried it with a P3-550 and a 1 gig P3 with the same results. I have 256meg of Mushkin Infineon mem , 2 UDMA100 hard drives , 3com ethernet and MX300 sound. The board boots up fine when using onboard video. So I'm stumped, anybody have any suggestions before I send this board back ?
Thanks, in advance .
try using some different DIMMS... i've heard some stories about the 815 chipset not liking certain makes of DIMMS... also, try running the CPU with the onboard vid... install the chipset drivers and such,... then power down, and disable the onboard vid, then power down again (don't load OS) go to dos or something and power down, then put in your vid card and start er up... hope this helps...
Well ..... I found out very very early it didn't like a micron stick I used. But when I used the Crucial 256 PC133 it worked. But that was before these post.
I get it to boot up and all ..... but it still hangs every other reboot.
I tried it with some Viking Cas 2 dimms, (no go) . I ran it with on board and then installed GeForce2 about 3 times, never got it to post once with card in AGP slot. Thanks for the suggestions but I had tried them allready, got any others ? I 've had several different Abit boards and this is the first to give me trouble.
