Abit Serial 2 work on non abit board?

If you're talking hard drives, then the answer is yes. If you're talking optical drives, then the sata controller has to support Atapi optical drives. The onboard SI sata controller on some Abit boards does support Atapi optical drives, most other sata controllers currently don't (but I'm confident that newer ones will in the future).
