i'm building a P3 700@933 system.
agp voodoo4 4500 video
which would be better to use?
i mostly use it to play UT so which would be faster?
i'm getting both in trades so i'll probably test them both out.

I have the SH6 which is the slot version of the 815 board. I have nothing but great things to say about it. Very easy setup, extremely stable...overall very pleased. The SE6 is the same only with the 370 socket. Hope this helps.

no i meant se6 vs p3v4x.

which would benchmark higher in memory and
hard drive tests.

i'll be using a flipchip 700@933 on the p3v4x
i'll use an abit slotket.

LennyZ - the 815 chip will ALWAYS give better memory scores -- unless you know about the Hex-tweak utility for the VIA chips. You sort of have to get your hands really dirty, but with some effort and time, you can get the VIA to perform similarly. But, I find the VIA drivers not-so-good (and 815 has native support under ME), and the lack of working AGP4X is annoying (since you're still "paying" for it).

I also really think the ICH2 hub which the IDE ports plug into on the 815 chipsets kicks the VIA solution which has the disks plugged directly into the PCI bus (poor design reminiscent of the past). This frees up PCI bandwidth for your PCI cards and USB ports (and, the USB doesn't entirely go through the PCI bus on the 815 either! (only the extra ports beyond the stock 2 ports do))
