Hi,

My friend from a local computer shop lent me a retail ABIT SE6 mobo (i815E) and I just ran a few benchmarks. Here is the result:

Q3Demo001 High Quality Settings 1024x768 (default clock): 64.4 fps
Q3Demo001 High Quality Settings 1024x768(150/340): 73.7 fps
Q3Demo001 Fast 640x480 (150/340): 93.2 fps

3DMark 2000
Score: 4868
CPU Speed: 373
Game 1 Helicopter low detail: 101.4 fps
Game 1 Helicopter high detail: 40.6 fps

Benchmark setup:
P!!! 550E @ 733 MHz
Abit SE6
Kingmax PC133 SDRAM (CAS 3)
IBM 75GXP 30.7GB (ATA100 Supported)
Leadtek GeForce DDR Rev.B (Detonator2 5.32)

Who else tried i815 mobo? Is the performance better than this?

I want to know if someone else have this board. I need your comments about this one before I decide which i815 mobo to get. I have 3 options so far:

Asus CULS2
Gigabyte 6OXM7E
or
Abit SE6

Well, I haven't tried Asus or Gigabyte cause they are not released yet.

Please post your opinion. Thank you.

I am also looking into getting an i815E mobo. Probably going to go for the Asus CUSL2.
I WAS going to just get the Abit SE6 because it is readily available but man, the reviews of this boad are just horrible.
Abit SE6 reviews can be found at hardocp.com and firingsquad.com. Both are very negative.
Asus CUSL2 reviews can be found at tomshardware.com, anandtech.com, and Gotapex .com. Gotapex .com doesn't have an actual review out yet but referred to his relationship with the CUSL2 as "love at first boot" in their Intel/Athlon article so I guess he likes it, they will have a review out soon.
I have yet to see an actual head to head, what you are probably looking for. Haven't heard anything about the Gigabyte board either.

LXi, I agree with HardOCP. After using it for a day, I'm not happy with it.

I tested on Win98SE and I had few troubles with it...:(

In the past 2 weeks I've ordered two Abit SE6's. The first board that arrived I installed and got up and running without a hitch. But my second came to me with a bad IDE controller, so it had to go back. Other than that unfortunate occurence I'm very pleased with the board. I read in one of the reviews(somewhere?) that they were having problems with running harddrives at Ultra ATA 100. But I guess Abit fixed the problem because I'm running my IBM 75GXP at that speed without a problem. I'm not sure if I'd recommend the SE6 ONLY because of the problem with my second board.

Good news! There is actually a comparison of five i815 boards up @ tomshardware.com. Haven't had a chance to read it yet tho.

:) I just bought ASUS CULS2. This board is good, it's faster than Abit SE6! This board comes with Win98/Win2k AsusUpdate software that allow you to update bios directly thru the internet, just like Intel's.

This board is a bit expensive though, it costs about 160 bucks.
