I recently built a system using the SE6 and installed one of the new IBM
UDMA100 hard drives. I also am using Win2K and went into the hardware
settings to check the DMA/PIO mode of the devices on the controller. I
noticed that the hard drive is running in PIO mode, which is slower than
UDMA, and that the 2 CD ROM drives on controller 2 are both running in DMA mode. I was wondering if anyone knows of an incompatability with specific drives in like this and if there is anything that can be done about it. The controller setting is to try to use DMA mode but it is apparently setting itself to PIO mode. Any help is greatly appreciated.
