Abit SA6R, BIOS upgrade, need driver

boomerang

Lifer
After upgrading to the latest BIOS on this board, during first boot, Win98SE detects new hardware. PCI System Management Bus. It's looking for a driver, but I don't know what.

The machine will boot up if I cancel out and no yellow exclamations in DM. Redetects on each subsequent boot. No info at the Abit site I can find.

Let it try to find one itself, it that doesnt work (usually doesnt) install the latest via 4in1's if its a via chipset (if it's a via chipset of course). Otherwise, if you have a disk/cd that came w/ your motherboard try to hav eit auto search in there. If none of these solutions work, you can always do trial and error w/ asus drivers available online. =P

It's an Intel 815E board. No 4 in 1's. They're not on the disk that came with the board or on the Win98 disk. Not at the ABIT site either.

The BIOS revision I want to flash with is dated a year later than the one that was running. Need a newer driver.

I'll be more specific. Which driver would include one for the PCI System Management Bus?

Thanks anyway.

Oops, you said Abit not Asus. =P

The PCI Management Bus could be a multiple number of things so its nearly impossible to just pick one. I know that happens to me a couple times but once I install updated mobo drivers from the VIA 4in1's it finds a match. But since you have an intel chipset, I suggest looking for intel chipset drives from the intel page. Install that stuff, and it should solve your problem.
