Abit or Epox Nforce2 board???

Anyone with experiences with these boards?

Im currently running this...

AMD T-Bred B 1700+ @ 1910mhz
Crucial PC2700 @ 347mhz TRAS:6 TRCD:2 TRP:2 CAS:2.5
FSB 11 x 174mhz
Vcore 1.775v
Leadtek K7NCR18D-Pro
Chaintech Geforce3 Ti200 @ 255/509

The board doesnt have multiplier adjustments and I'm dead set that that's what's holding my speed back....plus the board just sux!!

Which would you go with?

If overclocking is your primary concern, the 8RDA+ is the best choice IMO. The Asus is a nice board too, but the 8RDA+ is a generally a better overclocker. 🙂

well i dont own either but ill say this im building a system soon and im going with the Epox
i did so much research so much research and im goin with the epox

Abit cause the new Rev's out and I haven't tasted it but my mouths watering...better Customer Service, Phase Power and Warranty...JMO BTA IMbW= (Just My Opinion But Then Again I May Be Wrong)

Does Abit send out free bios chips with a bios puller for hosed bioses free? Are they still charging $25 for RMA's?
If you request nicely they will ship you chips and Board In advance with CC and only charge shipping

Both boards have a tri-phase power supply...how is the Abit better?
iuf Caps, Manfactures and QC

How long is the warranty on the Abit? All Epox boards carry a full two-year warranty.
3Years in the US and try to send Epox support!

Got some actual proof of this, or is this just your opinion?

try to send Epox support!

Funny, Evan Lieb has mentioned several times in his recent reviews that Epx tech support was excellent. If they send you a free (no shipping charge either) bios chip and puller just for a bad flash, what makes you think RMA'ing wil be a painful process? Here's a good example..

The guys HSF fell off and killed his board and 9700. Epox sent him a new board free even though it was not a defective board and he clearly told them what happened. Doesn't sound like a painful RMA to me. Do you have specifics regarding bad Epox customer service?

Not actual cause my older Abits @ the neighbors but I will compare when the newer 1 arrives so for now IMO

Not going to debate this Issue much other then It'ds not terrible (like ASUS) but have you ever tried to contact them? I've got 3 Epox MoBo's and 2 are out (mosfets Dead) and 1 I don't run 24/7 cause I do not get response (longevity is my question)...I love Epox (esp OCing) but it's time to retry Abit which never did me wrong...(maybe Red and others 😉)

I guess the warranty issue is settled so now do we compare luxury's between the 2 NForce Mobo's? 😛

Damn Abit. I am in the process of boxing up a NF7-S for RMA. So many problems!! Booted about 2 out of 10 times. I'm tired of reinstalling WinXP. On the other hand, got a 8RDA+ installed yesterday, and I'm lovin' it so far. Not a single problem yet.

I have nothin' but love for Epox and the one Abit I've owned (KT7) was a jewel! However, you asked for specifics and there is one glaring example of Epox completely "dropping the ball" on customer support&service that I've read lately, and though it is evidently isolated it is still dismaying to see the apathy Epox displayed in this particular instance (wouldn't even respond to the request for a board to review) especially given the fact that a Computer Enthusiast/Hardware review site was the victim and the bad press such a debacle generates for a continuosly improving board maker WTF happened here? 😕 It also looks like Abit's submission wasn't the fussed over ES or even the quality of product members here are posting about either Abit's RMA submission? 😛

Certainly this one site's experiences with these boards will not influence my purchasing either companys' products since my personal experience with many Epox boards and 1 Abit board were sparkling, but it may negatively influence others who have not come to trust them yet or had a bad experience with them in the past and still have that "bad taste in their mouths".

Both seem to be fine MoBo's so it would get down to preference...Abit with the added goodies or Epox for Price/Performance

just got my epox 8rda+ and had it up and running with no problems and fresh winxp format/install in about an hour. rock solid and stable so far

Another vote for the 8RDA+. I'd say for Nforce 2 my choices are 1.) 8RDA+ and 2.) A7N8X.

I just picked up an 8RDA+ yesterday to replace my wonderful Epox 8K5A2+ for a bit more overclocking (the 8K5A2+ was my second Epox motherboard. This is after a string of about 5 ASUS ones, one Abit...). I have to say that the 8K5A2+ was my favourite motherboard I've ever owned, just as impressive as the ASUS CUSL2 was for it's time a little while ago.

So far, my 8RDA+ is doing great. Everything worked fine the first time I hooked everything up, and I had it running pretty quickly. nForce2 memory performance in dual channel mode doesn't blow my socks off, but it's nice (certainly better than KT333/400 and anything single channel from Intel, however).
