Abit or Asus for a P4 System

I have narrowed down my choice of a new MB to either the Abit IS7 or the Asus P4P800. I am really interested in a quality MB that is very stable and can overclock. Stability is the most important feature to me right now. I do not have plans to overclock immediately, but perhaps in the future. Because of this, I decided not to consider an Intel MB. The Asus is more expensive. Which would be the better MB for me.

Either will serve you well. The Asus actually costs more than you may think. The Deluxe version does not include USB or firewire brackets so if you need those as well as SATA power cables you will need to get them separately.

Why 865PE and not 875P? IC7Max3 is the way to go ;)

Especially when looking to the future, if you're going to keep the setup for awhile, why not get top of the line now?

Thaks for your response. The reason I am going with the 865 chipset is because I am currently running a 2.5A GHz processor and need the 400 MHz FSB support. I will upgrade later when the prices start falling because of the Prescott introduction. Maybe they will be down by late summer or Christmas at the latest.
