Abit NV7-133R and Wake-on-LAN (WOL) - problem

Hi,

I have a problem with mobo Abit NV7-133R and Wake-on-LAN (WOL). I am not able to wake-up PC from any state (S1/S3/S5) and by any NIC (internal/on-board nVidia and PCI PME-compatible 3Com 3C905C-TX-M). Also sometimes it seems to me that mobo is not shut down properly (USB stays powered) but always keyboard stays on (NumLock shines).

First I am not sure if this mobo should support Wake-on-LAN and how exactly (intenal NIC/PCI 2.2 PME/both, APIC states S1/S3/S5, etc.) ?

I have read manual carefully but there is only note in BIOS settings section without exact information. I have read Abit's FAQ (useless). I have post some questions to news but only "turn it in BIOS" advices have returned (useless). I have contacted Abit's support without any answer for 4 weeks (very "satisfying").

My mobo has the latest BIOS (rel. C3). I have WOL enabled in BIOS, my OS properly support it (WinXP Pro, I have 2nd Intel-based PC with WOL properly running on daily basis with same SW), I have WOL software, necessary power supply etc. PCI 2.2 PME wake-up was tested with 3Com 3C905C-TX-M (this NIC I am using in my 2nd PC - not type, but actual piece of HW).

I want to wake-up my PC from S5 state (shut-down). Please do you know about some hidden problem/setting/advice about it ? Is it a mobo bug ? I want to know it before I will call RMA and/or replace mobo with better one.

Please help, any useful information or your own experience are welcomed.

Thanx exXtreme

Good luck Exxtreme.

I tired to find out something similar about the on-board LAN of a ECS K7S5A, and found out nothing. As best as I can tell WOL is not operational except with a PCI card that has a plug for the WOL connector. It does not wake up with the onboard LAN. Amazing!
