I bought the Abit Ni8 SLi mobo.

I want to build a system from the ground up on this. Which CPU should i buy?

The following CPUs were tested by Abit for this particular mobo:

(please see link)

In everyone's opinon, what CPU would you buy for this mobo?
Please list 4 from this above link and also give me the reason for your choices.

I now have a P3 800MHz CPU on a GigaByte mobo, i felt it was time to step it up a notch so i can play the latest games. I am good with networking and programming and basic hardware. Please help me out so i can enjoy some games! When it comes to front side BUS and multipliers and stuff, i am just really bad with understanding the equations you all use to guage what CPU works best with a particular mobo.

Also i dont want to spend more then 400 bucks. So please consider "best bank for the buck " here too.

I also included a poll so you can not only write a response, but also choose your top choice on the poll too!
:p

Thank you in advance everyone!

(p.s. - you can also let me know your opinion on what RAM to buy for gaming. I am looking at 2GB of RAM for this machine.)

(p.s.s - AND if you feel crazy like me, what Video card should i get that is PCI express for under 400 bucks?)

I KNEW that would be the first question asked to me!
HA!

The question is to me... Why should i NOT overclock!?

I mean, my mobo made it simple to OC with the uGuru software and also the BIOS is setup for OC'ing. I think OC is alot more bang for the buck. I mean, if i get one of those DualCore pentiums, i am sure i can OC it for some extra cycles.

How about you inform me of the pros and cons of OC'ing a CPU. Cause i honestly dont know the cons.

TEACH ME YOU SMART PPL YOU!
