Guys,
Been a while since I've post, I hope I don't piss too many off. I just bought and NF8 and AMD64 2800. I have an Adaptec 2940 and 4 18GB disks I'd like to RAID and use as primary drives. Is this possible? When booting I'm not getting any prompt from the SCSI card to configure it.

Thanks

Never having used anything other than Promise for add-in drive controllers, I can't say whether Adaptec works the same or not, but the BIOSes in the systems I've used had an option to boot from an auxilliary controller, which is how those referred to the Promise cards. Meanwhile, for just about anything other than ATA, you still have to have special drivers loaded before you can use SCSI, USB, etc. drives for any purpose. And they must reload for each reboot.

You didn't say whether you had those loaded yet.

I haven't installed an OS and when I us the drivers for installation provided by Adaptec the XP install boot doesn't find the drives becuase I can't define them within the SCSI card. I other words there isn't a valid Raid or partition available.
