If I power on it will boot with no problem. All the way to Windows and as long as I do a shutdown it powers on without a problem.

However if I attempt a reboot from windows or from making changes in the bios. The mobo will just beep and I am forced to hold the power in and shut it down. It will then power up perfectly fine.

No Overclock, Latest Bios, Upgraded Power supply when I thought it might be a power issue.

Any thoughts?

I saw this yesterday and found it a bit puzzleing as well.

Might not be much help, but all I can think of is to disconnect all drives etc (I.e., leave cpu with HSF, ram and gfx card installed but nothing else).

Then boot it up and go into BIOS and make a change. If it still has the problem I'd say it's the mobo's fault (sounded like you've already changed the PSU)

BTW: You mention it just beeps - what's the code indicate?

Good Luck with it.

Thanks Fern

I solved it by accident and now I understand what the problem is.

My Original Config.
PRI MAST - HD
PRI SEC - HD
SEC MAST DVD WRITER
SEC SLAVE CD-Writer.

I only had the cd writer in there because it burns at 48x and has no rip lock so its great for ripping my MP3's.

Well I decided I needed another hard drive in the case and removed the CD burner and noticed it stopped. Funny it never had a problem with burning or reading. No driver conflict with the dvd burner.

Then I remember I read something in the little story book that came with my pc about "Manual" (Thats a joke) But a bigger joke that I actually read it.

The ATA specifications does not support devices that are pre DMA ATA/100 Specified. Go Figure. The CD Writer must have been ATA-66 or 33.

Interesting. Hope this helps someone down the line.

Wierd, but glad to got it sorted out.

Why I say "weird" is because I thought cd's etc normally ran at ATA-66? That's why I use my old 40 pin/40 wire IDE cables on 'em. I mean I know for fact that my DVD & cd -r/w runs at ATA 66 on the rig in my sig. I checked it in BIOS just last week.

Man those NF7-S2 mobo's seem to be REALLY different from the NF7-S v2's

Mine is a version 2.0. Weird huh? I use the 80pin ata cables.

The CD burner it didnt like is a 48x from Khypermedia. Maybe BIOS issue? Its been a great CD burner.

Interesting that you have yours working.
