Without fail whenever I boot up after the system had been off for a few hours the alarm comes on for overheating. It usually starts sounding after Win2kPro starts to load and I can get it to turn off by opening the Abit Hardware monitor. This is very strange. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? I have the latest BIOS, latest nVidia drivers and the system always runs at around 45C at idle. Thanks for any input :)

Oh I've checked the Abit forums and nForcer's but I haven't seen this exact problem from anyone else.

Well what temp is it getting to that makes it come on?? As long as it is lower than say around 60, then you should be OK. Just set the Temp bar a little higher.

It comes on when the CPU is 'cold'. By the time Windows gets done loading it's around 50C so I'm guessing something may be wrong with the sensor that keeps track of the temperature. I've never had the CPU go over 60C while playing FPS games for hours on end. It only gives me the alarm when it's a cold boot, which boggles me.

Is it possible that my CPU (AMD XP 1600+) has some kind of heat spike while the computer is booting?
