I just got one last week and its a pretty good motherboard. I really like the onboard sound. But the only problem I have is that it reads my CPU temps a little high. The case temp seems fine but my CPU temp is a little high. I got the nf-s v2.0 with slk 800u and TT smart fan II with AS3. But I still get unusually high temps with this mobo (50c load on 1.6v with 1800xp DLTC) even after flashing it to the newest bios. I just purchased a A7N8X Deluxe (another nforce2 board) and will see how that goes. Right now I got pc2100 crucial but plan on upgrading to pc3200 or 3500 in the near future to obtain 200fsb.

;) Mobos only give a rough indication of temps anyway, it's more for relative temps on the same mobo than for comparing across mobos (ie if you want to know how much hotter you run with an extra 0.5v). It's fast, good for o/c'ing, relaible and rock solid stable but the downsides to NF7-S rev2 are...

1. The power connectors (incs P4 type connector) are really stupidly placed and result in cables significantly conflicting with the airflow you carefully set up.

2. Be careful about the BIOS as it isn't clear on all Abit sites that rev2 have a completely diff BIOS than the orig nF2.

3. It lacks a game port, seriously annoying if you already have a traditional pad (esp imp for old games).

4. You only get 1 IDE cable which is pretty cheap of them in these days of HD+CDRW+DVD (though you do get some SATA stuff).

5. When you o/c it doesn't apply the XP rating which takes much of the satisfaction away from you (ie XP1700+ @ 12.5x333FSB does not give XP2600+ but 'Athlon @ 2.08ghz').

I get enough satisfaction out of it saying "Athlon XP at 2400mhz" at post, and the benchies. Aida 32 will give you the XP rating under the CPU tab...
The bottom line is, if you want to OC your Athlon, you will love this mobo! You may also get the same satisfaction out of the other nf2 v2 boards... I was planning to buy an a7nx8, but I already had an SLK900 hs and didn't want to modify hs or bend capacitors so I got the Abit and am very happy.

the ATX power connector is close to the power circuitry on the motherboard, meaning that it can provide more clean power.

i have heard that some people have purchased this board from newegg and it was a 2.0

i e-mailed them just to be sure but i also noticed that there was a link that said "more" and when i clicked on it it said it supported 400mhz fsb

i buy most my stuff from newegg but after returning my asus a7n8x today i went down to pcclub and they said they stopped carrying abit nf2 boards because everyone they sold got returned or exchanged
is this a bad sign ??

also this site says the board had stability issues at 400fsb in their review

i've noticed that many of the review statements on the newegg site are mixed for nf2 boards
it seems either hit or miss on wether the boards even run at 400mhz fsb

is it just me or does this seem odd ??

ok newegg emailed me back:

Thank you for contacting NewEgg.com.

Generally, our stock moves so fast that we have the latest version or revision of everything. Unfortunately, we do not have a way to physically get our hands on our most current stock and tell you what revision we have at the moment. Besides coming from multiple warehouse locations, our inventory is simply too large and moves too fast to tag a particular item for a particular order. We ship what we have, when we have it, at our discretion. We do not guarantee revision numbers or stepping unless otherwise indicated in the product listing.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please visit our FAQs page at http://www.newegg.com/app/faq.asp or just drop us a line and we'd be happy to assist you.

Best regards.

looks like they can't guarantee a 2.0 revision
should i order from somewhere else or just take my chances ???

:D My NF7-S v2.0 is rock solid stable and can easily get 2.3ghz and 400FSB with my XP2500+ Barton although I don't run at that speed due to noise and heat levels. I would imagine IF someone found the NF7 to be unstable at 400FSB it was most likely due to an early BIOS, old revision or some driver probs. Do rem 400FSB is only certified for Ultra400 mobos, it was basicly unofficial on older nForce2.
