Abit NF7-S, problems with built-in ethernet controller running RadHat 9.0

I have tried downloading and installing the nForce drivers from nVidia, but with no success.

Anyone else encountered and hopefully solved this peoblem?

(The NIC is working flawlessly under WinXP...)

At the top of this forum (Motherboards) you will see an official NF7-S thread...might be best to ask there or browse for an answer.

no, i'd still keep a sharp eye on this thread and not rely too much on the "official" NF7-S thread. chances are, if you haven't already found your answer in that thread, nobody's posting in there anymore. all of those official threads have gotten hundreds of replies within the first week of being posted, and have been stagnant since. i.e. you'll be lucky if anyone sees your question behind 500 other posts.

in reference to your problem, were the nVidia drivers you downloaded made for linux? if you don't know, and nVidia doesn't offer specific drivers for specific OS's, that doesn't necessarily mean you downloaded universal drivers. make sure nVidia has a disclaimer stating this.

My thought too, Sunny. (About posting here or n the official NF7-S area)

Yes, it was RPM'ed drivers specifically for RedHat 9.
I will put some effort in this tomorrow. I haven't had the time to sort this out yet and I was looking for a quick solution to the problem by posting it here hoping that it was a fairly common problem 🙂
