Abit NF7-S Delayed Write error with DX9 cards????

I asked in Video so I thoutht I try here also.........

I ahve put 2 different 9600pro cards in my Abit NF7-S system. Both times I get this error to pop up....

Windows Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save data for File C:\$Mft


I tried the 3.7, 3.8, and current Omega drivers and still the same. I upped the voltage to 1.6, and even set the card at AGP 4X, still same error. But when I put in my old 8500 or even a TNT2 Vanta my system works great. I also turned off fast writes in the Bios but got the same error

Anybody know what I can do??????

Turn off fast writes both in your bios, and in smartguart.

smartguart = ?? I turned fast writes off int Bios but am not sure what/where smartguart is


Some other said use driver cleaner so I did and put the newwst 3.9drivers on and still the same thing. I also unplugged my DVD-Rom and CD-RW so to free up the power supply but that did not help either. ????

It's in tha advanced properties of your display properties/advanced area. You'll see that tab. You'll have to reboot after disabling fast writes . Use 64 for AGP aperture in the Bios. I would also raise the voltage a notch for agp to 1.6/.7 - see if that helps - you never know.

I take it you are talking about "Enable write combining" ??

I will try that.

I also tried before to set the AGP voltage to 1.6 and that did no good either. AARRGGGG

OK just put the card back in and had the "Enable write combining" turned off, fast writes in Bios off, and upped the voltage to 1.6volts. But still had the same problem.

I have had 4 different DX9 cards working properly in my NF7-S R2 board. Two R9600P cards and two GF FX 5600s. No problems like you are describing....

Folks, that error is a HARD DISK error - a writeback operation from RAM buffer to actual HDD storage having failed. It's called a "delayed write" because when the application did the write operation, it went to buffers in RAM first rather than directly to HDD.
Nothing to do with the graphics card or its driver, that.
