Abit NF7-S comes with ide to serial converters..

The usage of a SATA Controller adds Synchronous Transfers and Tagged Queuing. I noticed an improvement for Windows install times and general usage which was welcome. Don't expect anything fantastic improvement though. However every little bit helps and for free go for it!

And did you get two Serillel Adapters? My NF7-S only came with one... 🙁

I bought a couple of these a while back. Used them with my IDE drives to run sata raid0. Worked great. What I really want to try though is to use these on a CD rom or burner, or DVD rom or burner. They will work with these atapi devices. However you need a sata controller that will recognize them. So far as I know, only the SI built-in controller will do this. I have an ABit NF7-S coming in in a couple of days (it has the SI sata controller) and I'll try it out.
