Hiya! I just ordered this motherboard assuming that overclocking is near equivalent to the NF7-S board. I got an Athlon XP 2600+ mobile which I'm planning to overclock and I was hoping that this board would be able to bring the processor to its full potential =P. Any significant disadvantages in terms of overclocking with this board over the NF7-S?

I wouldn't think so, as I have an NF7, although I haven't oc'd(gotta love the warranty). it's based on the same chipset, just without all the extra chips, like the sata. actually, it has the ultra 400 chipset, and teh nf7-s, if I remember correctly, has an older chipset. which might mean it actually oc's better.

The only think I can think of is that the NF7 doesn't have those 4 holes around the cpu socket, so no huge hulking heatsinks allowed.

The NF7-S Rev 2.0 has the Nforce2 Ultra chipset rated for 200mhz fsb. Just to clear that up.

I wouldnt feel right saying that the NF7 is inferior in overclocking ability because it might use the exact same components or quality of components as the NF7-S, plus the fact that YMMV as always with overclocking. Personally Id consider the NF7 to be inferior to the NF7-S Rev 2.0 in overclocking abilities so that if I didnt overclock as well, Id avoid disappointment. Also, Id be happily suprised if I equalled or came close to what people achieved on an NF7-S.

I only ordered the NF7-S over the NF7 because of its known overclocking abilities and the possibility that Id use the features on the board that werent on the NF7 version. If the NF7 was proved to be as good as... I might have acted differently. Lack of info on this subject to be fair.
