Abit NF7-M single DIMM module?

Is it possible to use a single DDR DIMM module in this board, in single channel DDR mode? Or does one have to purchase 2 seperate modules?

Forgive my unfamiliarity with Athlon chipsets and their features

You can use 1 stick but if you plan on using the onboard G4 MX IGP video then the performance will be greatly reduced in single channel.

That is fine. The system is being put together on a budget, can't afford to buy 2 x 256mb dimms, and would rather not buy 2 x 128mb and end up throwing them out a few months down the road, not to mention 128mb are only available in PC266. Will probably be adding a second 256mb in a few months time to enable dual-channel.

Thanks very much for the response

No problemo 🙂 You will have the nice boost from the increased video performance and extra ram to look forward to down the road anyways

I just bought one of these and have had all sorts of issues with the onboard video, other than that the board is awsome.

Have you eliminated heat related issues? Sometimes the northbridge will not have enough thermal compound and is low quality, or will have none at all :Q With the IGP I suggest an active cooler as well. Have you tried several different detonator versions and not just the unifieds?

If getting the IGP nForce2 board I would look at the MN31N shuttle. Better value then the Abit one. And no I am not against abit, as I myself own a Abit NF7-S, I just think shuttle has a better IGP nF2 setup
