last night my HTPC froze, showing a frame of video

when i rebooted, the computer will not POST

fans start, HDs spin (but can't hear seeking), LEDs light, but no beeps, etc

tried
reseat all cards, etc
removing all but video/cpu/ram, no change
reset CMOS jumper, left for several hours with battery out and PS unplugged, no change
new RAM
new video card
a wide selection of curse words

still to try
new CPU
new PS

so, is the mobo likely the problem? any other suggestions? do i get a shiny new C2D htpc?
