I recently got the mobo mentioned above, I know it uses Award BIOS, not sure of the build, since I can only currently use my work comp. Other comp stats are:
ABIT KX7-333 mobo
AMD XP1800+ CPU w/ Therm. Volcano 7 hsf
256 MB PC333 RAM MAJOR (Generic brand that came with the barebones)
Enermax FS710 Full tower case with 3 case fans and 330w PS
Visiontek Geforce3 ti200 video card
Aureal SQ1500 sound card
Maxtor 60GB ATA133 hard drive
LiteOn 16x DVD
Pine Tech. CDRW
I've had the comp with the same setup for the last three months. Have added no new hardware or software in recent weeks. Problem is as follows:
Normally, when booted up, the computer's system speaker emits a single beep, then the BIOS screens load.
Now, the case powers up, fans and drive start to spin, but no beep, and no BIOS screens. It's just stuck.
A friend suggested I clear the CMOS. Tried it, and got the beep, and the first screen with that 'Energy Saver' logo on it appeared. Also a message to the effect of 'Press 'Del' to see BIOS settings, or 'Enter' to continue.' Well, I pressed 'Del' to see if I could find anything abnormal in the settings. Looked a bit, nothing major. Went to 'Save Settings and Exit'. Upon exiting, it resumed it's prior behavior of not booting.
Anyone have any clue as to what may have caused this in the first place, and how I can prevent it again, or what setting may be causeing this that I can change. It's quite annoying, since it's so new, and I've done nothing out of the ordinary to it. Thanks for any input, and sorry for the long-windedness.
