Abit KX7-333 reading temps higher than Epox 8K5A2+ ?

I had the Epox board for two weeks and my typical temps with an Athlon 2200+ retail with retail HSF were around 46 degrees C. The Epox took a crap after two weeks and I replaced it with an Abit KX7-333 that I bought locally. Now the temps are reading around 51 degrees C average.

Is it possible that the Abit is just reading the temps a little different? With both boards I used Arctic Silver to mount the HSF.

It could be, different brand, even on the same brand I think you could see a little difference but smaller.
I think there is no reason to worry about, ur temps seems to be fine.
BTW, how r U getting the temps? From the thermistor or the internal diode? That could be the difference.

Okay I'm going to show my ignorance here but I'm just getting them from the BIOS and then when from Sandra once the system is started. Sandra's results are the same as the BIOS shows.

So whatever the mb uses on each board to tell the temps...I'm not familiar with the difference between thermistor and internal diode.

I'm not really concerned about the temps, just curious. Guess I am just wondering whether it's a mb difference or in the way I applied the arctic silver this time. I followed the manufacturer's directions both times but maybe it was slightly less optimal the second time or something.

Yeah I understand ur concern about it Wolf!
I always apply the AS3 the same way, following the AS directions.
I will tell you that I got a 1ºC difference from the 1st time I applied it. I only aplplied it twice.
But temps are always about the same in Idle n full load.
But in ur case, I think you should consider the small difference from applying the AS and the different mobo. ;)
