Abit KX7-333 / IDE 3 / Floppy?

Just got my Abit KX7 , and noticed when I put the MB in my Supermicro tower case, that the IDE 3 slot (what i assume is for my floppy drive) is on the bottom of the board (down by pci 6). My floppy drive is on the top of my case in the one 3 1/2 floppy slot. The cable is barely long enough to reach and connect into into this slot.

Is this poor design on ABIT's part? Anyone else have this annoying problem? I know my ASUS board had it right next to the other IDE slots, on the top (by the CPU).

Sigh.

solution = throw away your floppy drive. do you really need it?

actually, this design decision has been noted by several reviewers. you can just get a long cable if you really need your floppy, like BIOS or firmware upgrades. personally, i use my USB key for that....

most OS such as XP 2000, and ME do not use floppys for boot disk anymore. Instead they use the OS CD.

I have the KR7A which is same configuration as KX333 and I've never had a problem with it.

Your cable might be extra short.
