Abit KV8 Pro - First Via K8T800 Pro Board

I saw this article at the inquirer yesterday and found it quite interesting. It gives a link to the specs of the board from Abit's website, but here's a direct link. Looks like a pretty good board, I'll be excited to see which is faster, the nForce3 250 or the K8T800 Pro...either way I need a new board for my A64, the lack of an AGP/PCI lock is making my Sound Blaster/Radeon 9800 Pro very mad, and very unstable, so until a new board comes out I am stuck in the land of stock.

Well seeing how the nf3 250 performs the same as a k8t800 non-pro, I would assume the k8t800 pro is the same as the nf3 or maybe a bit better. The thing is, with the memory controller on the cpu with a64's there's not a whole lot of optimizing in design a chipset maker can do imo. They can play with the ht speed but with nf3 150 on a 600 ht link vs k8t800 on 800 ht link, the difference was negligable.

Personally, I'm waiting for a a board with agp/pci lock AND quality onboard sound.

IT seems as if the K8T800 Pro will have the ability to lock the AGP/PCI buses, so that will be quite a good thing.

I have noticed a few crashes with my pc, so I do think AGP/PCI lock is now very crucial to over clockers. That's why im going to upgrade to a Nvidia nforce 3 as soon as they make one that excites me enough.

I'm doing the same because I am hoping to keep this current rig until at least the first of the year so I can get in on all the good new technology in one big upgrade.
