Abit KT7Raid USB Problem

I can't seem to get the USB to work. I have a Geforce 2 GTS in AGP, NIC is pci slot 1, Tekram scsi card in 2, sb live in 3, nothing in 4,5,6, diamond supraexpress modem in isa slot. I have ibm 45 on ide 3, maxtor 45 on ide 4 and toshiba dvd on ide 1. I tried installing my explorer, natural keyboard and webcam and none work. I am sure they work since they worked on my Asus P3V4X. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

If you're not using your secondary IDE port you should disable it from the Bios. Some other things that you may want to disable if you're not using it are the LPT1 port, and the 2 serial ports. The problems with the USB doesn't have anything to do with not assigning an irq to the USB port. I found that out a while ago with my kt7 raid and it has worked fine ever since.
If you're not using the raid or IDE 3 or 4 then you may want to disable those as well and leave the secondary ide port functioning. Good luck with it.

actually im using the LPT, both raid ports, IDE1 but I guess i can disable serial port 2. anything else i should look at?

Try disabling the serial ports if you're not using it. My system has the following:

agp: Elsa Gladiac geforce 2
pci 1: scsi card don't know which one --> CD writer and scanner connected
pci 2: ATI tv wonder
pci 3: 3com 905C network card
pci 4: empty
pci 5: empty
pci 6: soundblaster live platinum.

I disabled the following
lpt port
serial port
secondary ide port

I'm using the following

usb ports ---> connected to a usb hub and an epson 900 printer
highpoint ide ports --> two 45 gig ata 100 maxtor drives (not raid)
primary ide port --> 45 gig western digital drive and a dvd player

I hope this gives you some ideas on where your cards should go.

I know it kinda contradicts the last post, but if none of the other suggestions work, try moving that nic from slot 1 to a different one - nics can be tricky and if the nic shares an irq with something else (can't remember where I put my manual, so I can't look it up) one or the other might not be happy about it... Worth a try!

move the nic to slot 4 or 6. slots 1 & 5 are tricky on the KT7. PCI# 5 shares with the highpoint controller and I believe #1 shares with the AGP.
