I've come to the conclusion that it's gotta be either the mobo (Iwill KK266, early revision, piece of sh*t)or the PS (would be a surprise...Antec P303x...rocks in my rig) that is making my GF's rig go belly-up.
Way back in April when I built the system, we found out the mobo had a bad AGP slot. Couldn't get THREE DIFFERENT vidcards to work. I had to leave on a two week business trip. She told me to throw my V3 PCI card in there, as she could live w/the so-so 3D graphics. (she's not a gamer).
Since then, she's had intermittent probs...progs closing by themsleves, screeen artifacts, other "strange" behavior. Now, two days ago, the CDRom starts acting up...this is all too coincidental, if you ask me.
It's either the PS or the mobo. I have an Antec p303x in my old case at home. I'm gonna swap PS's. If that don't work, it's the mobo.
NOW we get to my actual question. I'm going w/Abit. My KT7R has rocked for me. Stable as a rock. So, I'm getting another one. Question is which one? She doesn't need RAID.
Her stuff:
850TBird (no OC)
128mb PC133 ram (no OC)
Dialup modem
Basic surfing/emailing system. Help.
