Abit KT7A won't always recognize slave hard drive

My Abit KT7A (non raid) will not recognize my 2nd hard drive on every boot. My set up:

1st drive - IBM Deskstar 60 Gig 100 ATA (master) IDE 1 Primary
2nd drive - Maxtor 27 Gig 66 ATA (slave) IDE 1 (slave)

ATA 100 IDE ribbon cable

3rd drive - Mitsumi generic CD-Rom (master) IDE 2 Primary
4th drive - HP 9100 CDR burner IDE 2 (slave)

VIA 4-1 drivers ver 28

AMD Athlon 1G OC 1130
512 Compuwiz Infieon Ram

Seems to be hit or mis as to when the board will recognize the Maxtor slave drive. If I re-boot it always finds the drive.

OS - Windows 98SE
Bios ver WW - set to auto for all IDE channels

Any thoughts?

That doesn't seem to be an issue. This page has helped me a lot with this board. You just need to go into the bios and tell it what to do. This link has a ton of information and links to optimize the board.
