I installed a kt7a motherboard
when I booted up the computer just made a continuous beep.
all I have installed is a duron 800, 128MB of ram, and a video card.
The monitor isn't reciving a signal from the computer so I switched video cards but the same thing happened agian.

It could be a dead CPU. First check everything. Make sure the RAM and CPU are seated properly in there slots and sockets. Can you test the CPU in a different motherboard? Check every component, and if everything works, but the new motherboard, then that is the problem. I hope this helps.

Good luck.

Do you have the CPU fan on header 1, you may have an old bios that requires this.

Sounds exactly like the fan header 1 issue. Check the owners manual to be SURE the the cpu fan is plugged into the fan 1 header.

If its not fan header 1, it could be a crushed cpu, or jacked memory. Try reseating them, and resetting cmos.

I have the fan on header one. I can run windows and linux but when I boot up it says duron 800, the cpu has been changed or is unworkable, if I continue loading it will boot up. But when I enter the bios it is set for a duron 500, i set it for 800 but the I can't boot up and I have to clear the cmos. I have tried the defualt settings and many others but none of them work.

Sounds like you didnt close the L1 bridges, that's why you're getting cpu unworkable message.

That 'CPU changed' message is from *any* clock change done (under or over), including FSB and multiplier. It can be disbaled through the SoftMenu Setup. Ignore it otherwise.
