I am ready to try something else....

I too join the list of people with the infamous boot problems .. GRRR .. (ABIT KT7A RAID + 3D Prophet II Pro = HAHAHA - YOU HAVE JUST WASTED YOUR MONEY)

Thank you, Thank you very much =)

Problem: Motherbaord and Graphics Card are incompatible. Some sort of problem with the Mobo not being able to supply enough power to get the card started.

Description: What basically happens.
1) Cold boot the machine.
2) BIOS/Mobo emits three beeps, (1 long, 2 short)
3) Reset PC all works.

Solution:
1) Get Hercules/Gullimont to modify the graphics card.
2) Replace hardware. :)

Pls post some official and unofficial FAQ's for the ASUS A7V133 b/c I am seriously considering selling the Abit KT7A Raid .. It works perfectly apart from the damned infernal boot problem.

Whats the deal with this on board sound ? Can it be properly disabled in Hardware ?

Also, if you have any post some links of thread's of any people having fundamental problems with this board.

This is tearing my hair out.

My specs:
1.2 GHz AMD Athlon T-Bird
ABIT KT7A-Raid
Taisol CGK742092
512 MB Crucial PC-133 CAS 2 RAM
2 * IBM Deskstar 30 GB - In Raid Stripe 0
Coolercase Tornado - 300W Macron PSU (AMD Approved)
Sound Blaster Live Player! 5.1
Creative Labs DDT 2200 - 5.1 Surround Sound
Hercules 3D Prophet 2 GTS Pro**
16* Pioneer DVD Drive
17" Sony G200 Monitor
3COM NIC
Motorolla SurfBoard Cable Modem - 0.5 Mbps

Should I switch or am I likely to run into as much trouble as with the Abit board ?

Sorry, If it sounds like Im board bashing this mobo but, I just expect things to work, and when they dont I expect to have this told to me by the Manufacturer, or at least for them to fix the problem when they obviously know it exists

That's all, SJ.

Another thing, Ive read soo many kick ass reviews of this board, frankly I am surprised and disapointed that no-one seems to mention this problem, considering this is a top end 3d card and this is a very annoying and fundamental problem ! :|

Surely some one must have the ASUS A7V133 and be able to tell me if its any good, or if it has any niggling little problems like this Abit Board?

Cheers, SJ.

lol, I can trade you a ASUS A7V133 w/ sound for that ABIT KT7A, tho you'll need to RMA my board, cause the heatsink holeders are busted, and who knows what else.

Yes the Asus A7V133 can fix this.... its the Vcore that causes the issue its a problem with softmenu.... but you can use the jumpers for Vcore on the A7V133, and then you can still do the rest from the BIOS. Its a common problem, and usually has nothing to do with the video card.

I have a Elsa Gladiac on my KT7A-RAID with no problems...I think that is a Hercules issue...

Yea, thx for the replies ..

It's definately a Graphics Card problem b/c I emailed Hercules and they offered to Modify it, but I dont think I can really be bothered to do that :( Call me stupid but this is a fundamental incompatibility.

Cheers, SJ.

I have the Asus A7V133 with a Hercules Geforce2 Pro. I bought the Geforce off of a guy that said it didn't work in Abit board and didn't want to spend the time waiting for a replacement from Hercules.

So yes the Asus works fine.
